US government lifts Claude Mythos 5 export block (June 26–27)

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick authorized Anthropic to release Claude Mythos 5 to more than 100 US companies and government agencies after a two-week export freeze, stating "appropriate safeguards are in place"; Anthropic committed to future government protocols for model releases. Anthropic accuses Alibaba of record-scale distillation attack (June 24)

Anthropic sent a formal letter to US officials documenting 28.8 million Claude exchanges conducted by approximately 25,000 fraudulent accounts affiliated with Alibaba and its Qwen AI lab between April 22 and June 5, 2026 — calling it "the largest known distillation attack on Anthropic to date." The campaign used model distillation to transfer capabilities from Claude into a weaker competing model without authorization.

API: Rate limits raised; tiers consolidated to Start, Build, Scale (June 26)

Claude Sonnet and Haiku rate limits now match Claude Opus at every usage tier; the existing multi-level tier system is collapsed into three tiers — Start, Build, and Scale. No organization receives lower limits than before; most move up a tier automatically; no action is required. Current tier and limits are visible in the Claude Console.

API: Fast mode deprecated for Claude Opus 4.7 (June 25)

Fast mode on claude-opus-4-7 is deprecated with removal scheduled July 24, 2026; after that date, requests with speed: "fast" on that model return an error. Migrate to fast mode on Claude Opus 4.8.

Trusted Devices for Remote Control — Team/Enterprise (June 25)

Team and Enterprise admins can now require members to verify their device with biometrics (Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello) or a passkey — with a sign-in no more than 18 hours old — before viewing or steering any Remote Control session. Each browser, phone, or desktop app enrolls its own credential independently; the setting is enabled from the Claude Code admin console under Remote Control.

Adds CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_MOUSE_CLICKS to suppress click/drag/hover in fullscreen while keeping scroll; fixes hook matchers with hyphenated identifiers (e.g., code-reviewer, mcp__brave-search) to use exact matching instead of substring matching; fixes macOS voice dictation capturing silence in long sessions and auto-submit for CJK and Thai; fixes project-settings-enabled external plugins silently bypassing the install-consent check.

Adds /rewind command to resume a conversation from just before the last /clear; reduces CPU usage ~37% during streaming responses; reduces memory growth from terminal output cache in long sessions; fixes background agents resurrecting after being explicitly stopped; fixes hooks with comma-separated matchers that silently never fired.
