Claude Code quality regression postmortem

Anthropic documents three distinct issues that degraded Claude Code quality between March and April 2026: reasoning effort default silently dropped from high to medium (reverted to xhigh/high); a thinking-cache bug cleared context every turn causing apparent memory loss (fixed Apr 10, v2.1.101); and a verbosity-reduction system prompt caused a measured 3 % intelligence drop (reverted Apr 20). All three resolved by v2.1.116; Anthropic reset usage limits for all subscribers as compensation (Apr 23).

Memory for Claude Managed Agents — public beta

Anthropic + NEC — Japan AI engineering partnership

NEC becomes Anthropic's first Japan-based global partner and will deploy Claude Code to approximately 30,000 Group employees worldwide, with the stated goal of building Japan's largest AI-native engineering organization; a joint Center of Excellence will handle internal enablement, and both companies will co-develop industry-specific Claude Cowork solutions for finance, manufacturing, and local government (Apr 23/24).
